FAQs

How do I tie the strands into my hair?

You simply make loop the strands around one or two hairs, tie a knot and slide the strand up to the hair root. Have a look at the Instructions page, where you’ll find some hints and tips and links to other sites. Or take them to your favorite hair salon and ask them to do it for you. Practice makes perfect, and once you have mastered it you’ll be able to put the tinsel strands in for all your friends!

Do they need any special care?

No – you can shampoo and use conditioner, hairspray and gels as usual. They are hairdryer-safe, but please be careful when using hair irons: these tools get very hot and the tinsel strands won’t be able to survive! Use a low heat setting. Crimping tongs should not be used when you are wearing tinsel hair.
Be sensible and be gentle – brushing is fine, but if you use a fine-toothed comb you can pull the strand out if the knot is caught in the teeth of the comb.

How long will they stay in my hair?

It depends on how gently you treat your hair! The knots are secure, but if the hair falls out so will the strand. People sometimes put them in for a special occasion and then remove them, others like to leave them in for a while.

How many strands can I use?

Entirely up to you – single strands catch the eye and make people look twice, up to five stands really stand out, and up to ten strands look stunning especially under bright lights! Be as creative as you like and experiment!

Where do I put them?

Anywhere! They look good on the side of the head, and longer lengths look great at the back in shoulder-length hair. It all depends on the existing hairstyle and what look you’re going for.

How do I remove them?

The tinsel strands are easily removed by just pulling until they slide off.

OK I’m convinced – how can I order?

Easy – the Order page has all the information you’ll need!
